The Gold Cup 2009 edition kicked off last night in Carson, California in fine fashion. The games pitted Canada vs Jamaica and El Salvador vs Costa Rica. The Canadians got the winning result on a second half goal from Ali Gerba as the game finished 1-0. In the nightcap, El Salvador stunned Costa Rica with a late winner from Osael Romero (his second of the match), after Costa Rica had equalized in the 65th minute through Warren Granados.
